Vernon has over 40 years and several hundreds of thousands of miles of driving experience, both in the UK and of driving on the right in Europe and the USA. He has experience of all kinds of vehicles with both manual and automatic gearboxes up to 7.5 tons.

He is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists – membership no. 292183

His current car is a Hyundai Tucson SUV, more suited to the rugged terrain in which we are now living.

His last car was a Subaru Impreza which was sold prior to the move to Spain and drove down to Spain in Celia’s Peugeot 206 (1100 miles).

When in his twenties, he and a friend built a Ford Anglia and raced it in Autocross

and in June 1997 he completed an introductory course at the Ian Taylor Motor Racing School at the Thruxton Circuit, something to be recommended as a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting day out!

In April 2005, he completed a Rally Gold day at Prestwold Hall,
Leicestershire, run by Everyman. A fantastic day out and good
experience for handling the Scooby.
